David employs the best of what he learned on and off Wall Street in his multi-disciplined approach to serving his clients. His experience and expertise come from his years in the public accounting profession, private banking, the insurance industry, the financial planning profession, and working with clients at all levels. He is excited to now bring his unique talents and skills to the Old North State Wealth Management team.
David is a leader in the financial planning industry. He served on the early American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) committees that guided CPAs into financial services. As a CPA planner, David was the first National Director of Personal Financial Planning for the CPA firm of Oppenheim, Appel & Dixon, where he provided planning services for partners of some of Wall Street’s most prestigious firms. He later joined Price Waterhouse in New York City, where he developed and managed the profession’s first international executive financial services group.
As the Vice President of the Financial and Estate Planning Department at Chase Manhattan Private Bank, his team served New York City’s wealthiest residents. He eventually left New York for Atlanta to join an executive benefits consulting firm, where he designed and patented a global retirement plan for Fortune 500 companies. To complete his corporate career, David joined Transamerica Financial Advisors in St. Petersburg, FL, where he was the leader of a national advisory firm with 90 offices in 26 states.
In 2013, David opened his own financial planning and wealth management firm, Wall Street Alliance, which is the culmination of his life’s work. In 2019, he merged his successful practice with Old North State Wealth Management to bring a more comprehensive array of services to his clients, as well as a team of accomplished professionals.
David is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he played varsity football and lacrosse. His accounting education was at North Carolina State University. David has published several articles and quoted in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and other publications. A retired Navy Captain (helicopter pilot), David lives in Southport, NC with his “bride,” Donna. Together, they have five adult children and several grandchildren. If David is not in the office, he is probably on the water or playing the trumpet in his church.
